Full circle of the Crown postbox topper 👑

nannybearscrochet

I thought I’d write a little blog about the Crown postbox topper I made for the Queens Platinum Jubilee back in June 2022. 👸

I made this Crown Topper to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, it was displayed outside my local post office in Telscombe Cliffs, East Sussex.

The local residents were delighted and left some wonderful feedback about it at the local post office, which the ladies passed onto me and on line…. Thank you all ☺️ .

It was even featured on the front cover of the local directory.

After a few weeks i took the topper off and put into store, whilst I designed the next topper. 📝.

Following the death of our beautiful queen. I brought the topper out of storage, adorned it with a black bow and RIP lettering as a symbol of my respect to her majesty and I put it back on the postbox.

Someone tagged my topper on the ITV Facebook page with a photo, I wish I knew who it was, as I’d love to say a personal ‘thank you’ 🥰.

I received an E-mail with the header “***INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY ON ITV***

GMTV wanted to interview me about my topper on the Lorraine show!, of course jumped at the chance, although I was a little nervous 😬 as I’m quite shy really ….. but my daughter talked me into it ! So after a few calls, emails and zoom calls the interview was all set to take place live on GMTV with Lorraine in the morning !

Lorraine was lovely, she said how wonderful it was to see my Crochet. 🧶 She called me the Banksy of the Crochet World as I sneak out at night to put my toppers out!

The interview only lasted a few minutes but it was lovely and I felt very privileged to be asked to be on the show 😊 So thank you to GMTV, Lorraine and all the staff who helped on the day. 🥰.

After another couple of weeks……

Once again the crown was then put away in store again….. not for long though as when it was time for the kings Coronation in May 2023, I got it out again, added a couple of Union Jack flags, and put it on another postbox, this time in the beautiful Sussex Village of Rottingdean, where I often put my toppers.

So this time the crown was put up in Rottingdean where it was greatly appreciated, by all the local residence.

The reason I had put it in Rottingdean this time was that I had already made a topper for my local post box to celebrate the Kings Coronation.

The local newspaper The Argus contacted me to do a little interview about my toppers, my grandson Stanley was very proud to see his nanny in the paper. He took a copy of this paper to school to show his friends and teacher 👩‍🏫.

After a month or so, off to store the crown went again where I thought it would be forever.

Fast forward to today…… I came across a lovely lady Shari from California who runs and the world famous Crochet museum, Shari has filled this little museum with treasures over the years. I just knew I had to contact her and ask if she would like the crown, she replied and said she would love it 🥰!

so off the crown goes to California.

You can read more about Sheri and the wonderful museum here on her instagram: https://www.instagram.com/worldfamouscrochetmuseum?igsh=bW9sMGl3bDBreHJw

I can’t wait to see what the visitors think of the crown when they see it.

Special thank you to Sheri for accepting the crochet donation.

Happy crocheting everyone 🧶🥰🧶🥰
